Detoxification of Dilute Acid Hydrolyzates
Severe compounds liberated during dilute-acid hydrolysis such as furan compounds, aliphatic acids and phenolic compounds were toxic to yeasts in fermentation stage. There are a number of detoxification methods used for detoxification of dilute-acid hydrolyzates, but overliming, detoxification using Ca(OH)2, are considered as a fast, cheap and practical detoxification method. The knowledge of kinetic behaviour is useful especially for operational design purpose. |
